I have a 35" Trxus with a tear in the side wall from where a stupid kid smashed into my jeep. Anyway, what are my options for fixing this tire? Is it worth it? Where in Greensboro could fix a tear like this?

I wouldnt use a tire with a fixed sidewall on the street, but if you want to fix it for trail use only then you can get it demounted and have a patch put on the inside (you may have problems getting someone to do that even if you explain it's trail only due to liability). Then you order some Rema Tip-top cold vulcanizing compound (two part mixture a and b) its about $50 for the small cans.

Grind out the slice without getting into the patch just like you were beveling it to weld \/ then mix the compound up with some old leather gloves. Work it in and let it set up for a couple of days then you can grind the sidewall back down smooth and hardly tell where you fixed it. Then just get the tire remounted.

Cam from the grand slam hooked me up with that info and the name of the vulcanizing compound. Thats what they were fixing Trey's tire with last year, so you can pm him if you need more info. I have fixed three of my 42's that had small puncture holes with that stuff and repaired two 3 inch slices on a pair of 33's for a friend on a zj thats a trail only rig.

You need to mix up more than you think you'll need cause most of it winds up stuck to the gloves, dont get it on your hands or arms cause it will have to wear off, and dont breath the fumes or as Cam said you'll get liver cancer in like 10 minutes.

, I will try and not get liver cancer. Thanks Tim, I will try that! You going to URE anytime soon?

I've had Hall Tire, business I40 at 421, repair a couple of bad sidewall slashes for me. One was a goner but they triple patched it and with a tube it lasted several years!

We are in full swing trying to be ready for Easter weekend. I'm gonna try to finish my rear 4 link Friday night. That will fix the leaf spring I bent in Harlan last year for good:lol: Just got some minor detail to look over and mount the shocks.

My buddy Barry is about 2 weeks from finishing his clone of my old ford, and Sean is about 2-3 weeks from having his 4 wheel steering zj on 40's done (I hope).

Clay, Freeman's Tire in High Point is owned by my fiance's family. They could probably help you out, or tell you it's too dangerous and they won't do it for liability reasons!
