bought some tires this weekend and one of them had a tear where it looks like the previous owner might have caught it while breaking them off the rim, the tear is just outside of the bead and is about the size of a quarter. looks like it went down to the sidewall cords but didnt hurt them. is there a way to "fix" this or should i just opt for a tube in that one???

What kind of tire is it......radial or bias?

What kind or service will they give......off road only or road driven?

Maybe even post up a pic of the cut.

its a 36" ground hawg. some road but mostly offroad use. the cut is acually a scoop shaped plug that is still hanging on the side of the tire. i was wandering about sorda "glueing" back down flat.will try to get a pic up here tonight.

If glue doesnt work try duct tape.... Ha ha j/k. I dont know of a fix for that, if it doesnt ruin the integrity of the tire (and safety) I wouldnt worry about it too much.

I have a bead cut like that on an SX. It wouldn't seal no matter what kind of glue I used. I ended up using a tube. That tire is on a beadlock and gets used as my trailspare so the tube is fine for it. Some other people have used tubes in bias tires also. Maybe someone else will add their .02.

what kind of tubes do you use?

I used a 33" radial tube as advised by Jason Lackey at Town and Country Tire in Hickory. I think that's his name and where he works.
