Hey Guys,

I searched the forums, Googled, and got a hundred different answers... what is the minimum that would have to be done to fit 33x12.5 tires on an XJ. I am sure that some of you guys know exactly what will, and will not, fit.

ThanX!!! :)

Its been done on stock with lots of trimming but I think you'll still need some wheels with different backspacing to keep from rubbing badly. I know I did.
If you can go to 33x10.50s you can keep your stock wheels, get a 2" BB, chop a lil' fender and go to town.
You could do it free (as long as a sawzall and time are free to you), but I'd hodgepodge a shorty lift together for $50-100 and have some space to use those bigger tires.
Just my opinion though.

If you're wanting to spend a small amount of money, I would do spacers in front and shackles in the rear and get a set of shocks. Then cut the fenders for added clearance. Go ahead and remove the rear swaybar also.

The newer (97-01) XJs are tighter than the first body style.

Obviously you can trim more sheet metal and use less lift to fit bigger tires, its up to you.

On my '99, I didnt want to trim anything. I have rubbage with 31x10.5 and the factory flares, at about 3.5" lift. My ECORS '95 XJ only has 2" spacers/blocks and massive fender trimming. 33x12.5 fit with minor rubbing. Both XJs have offset wheels and extended bumpstops front/rear.

2" bb with 33x12.50. No flex shots yet, sorry.

You fellows that posted photos... about how high is the bottom of the door off the ground? I'm guessing about 20"-22", but can't tell for sure.

ThanX

The next time one of you spot an ole guy snooping around your Cherokee (maybe with a tape measure), don't be alarmed... I'm not stealing anything other than ideas. :)

ThanX to all for the info!
