I'm thinking of changing up my tires on my jeep. I have been running the same combo since 2009 with pretty good success. Lately I have been out driving the tires capability and I'm thinking about going with a different brand and possibly stickies.

I want to post up legitimate diameters, widths, weight, and air pressure from the common tires on the trails.

Personally, I really would like to find out similar real world sizes of:

40" trepadors
40" creepy crawlers
39" Krawlers
37" Krawlers
43" Tsl-sx's
42" Tsls
42" iroks

As well any other tires an specs with info will be great to compile in one thread.

I'm going to use the sidewall size for ID of a tire only, and measure overall diameter mounted on a wheel at common trail pressure.

The same applies for the width of the useable tread area.

Prefer to take measurements with tires warmed up, and the flat spots out. I rotated my cold tires 90 degrees to put the flat spots to the side to get these measurements. I will have to verify again when warmed up after a ride.

I'll start with my "42" sx2's.

These are on h1 wheels with 4.5 psi, on a 5k lbs one ton YJ.

37.5" diameter. 12" - 13.5" useable tread width.

I'll add the other we have when it stops raining. The others I have are 42" tsls, 42" iroks, and 38.5" sx's.

As the pictures show, I used level across top of tire to allow a straight shot to the floor with the tape measure.

I would suggest that a mounted, inflated, of the rig measurement would be more accurate for comparison. Wheel width can make a difference also

To me that's not practical. I'm asking for real world sizes, and I understand your suggestion and the reasoning behind it.

Most but not all rigs running these tires will weigh between 4k lbs and 6k lbs, and anywhere from 4-15 psi.

I'm concerned with actual height with weight on them at the pressure that makes them work.

Obviously swampers work better with less pressure than BFg krawlers. And less pressure is required with lighter rigs.

With that being said, you're really only concerned with rolling radius from the ground to the hub.
