The first thing to remember is I drive a Samurai.
That means “cheapskate”!

But, I’m in need of tars. Since the wheelin’days are long gone, I want to put a some what aggressive looking all season tar on that cheap, has decent life, and good road manners.
I currently run 31s on 15” rims …. Wanna keep the same rims and stay around 31-ish so that if I manages to save enough money to get the 4:1 t-case rebuilt, I’ll be ok an the tires.

Any ideas?

Not really a lot of choices left in 15" tires, But a Toyo Open Country AT3 265/75r15 wouldn't be a bad choice... A little pricey for the size range at around $200, but seems pretty cheap do me when I haven't bought a vehicle tire less than 35"s in years...

I run General Grabber ATX's on all my Jeeps. They make a 31X10.5R15LT. Around 213 a tire on Tire Rack. They last quite a while and wear well. Not loud either.

I have some cheap 31x10.5 MT's with a few thousand miles on them available. Already mounted on sami rims with pre-sliced outer tread blocks (aka custom siping) from fender contact :D Plenty of tread, balance beads, set of 5. I've commuted in them, gotten them north of 70mph without any concerns. No idea if they are actually loud, but I don't hear them in the Sami. If'n you are interested, holler. Figure they are worth about $4-500 or would trade for a set of 5 on 5.5 17" wheels.
