Title Question...

So... Some of you have been helping me along my journey to find a Cherokee, and I have yet another question that I have come across while searching endlessly... First, I have expanded my search to include Grand Cherokee. I LOVE the classics, but it seems that I can get a newer model Grand for cheaper than a classic and since it will be a family/daily driver I had to compromise a bit. Once we get moved and I start studying how to rebuild everything (since I know nothing!) I will have a better chance of finding a classic that needs work for cheap and putting it together myself, for ME to play with instead of a DD.. Now, that said, some of both the classics and the grands I am running across have a title status of "rebuild." I know what a clean title is, and I know that a salvage title often means a pretty bad wreck or it was a flood car. I've been told this is a bad idea to purchase and that in NC it is hard to get insurance on a salvage title.. I have not run across the "rebuild" title before though. I know what it sounds like, but should I stay away from these as well for a daily family car? I figure it isn't as important for a toy like a rock climber...

thanks for the help as always!!

It really could go either way. I get Jeeps in here with salvage or rebuilt titles all the time, some of them get the stamp because of a very minor accident and some of them get smashed.

I bought two Jeeps at auction the other day, both with salvage titles. One of them only needed a fender and bumper endcap, the other looked great but once I got into it I noticed someone had grafted 1/4 of a different Jeep on to the front, very poorly too. You just really need to look at what you are getting in to if you get one.

Granted, you need to be careful with clean title vehicles too. I've had a couple of those come through in worse shape than some of the salvage ones I get.

And from what I understand, a lot of insurance companies will not offer full coverage on salvage vehicles, but you can get liability on them.
