i already have an oro steering kit and was wondering if i went to a d60 in the rear would spacers works on a d44 from a tj up front to make axles same width .............or would it be cheaper to just get front 44 that would match the width of the d60 and use diff steering setup about how much wider would it be than the tj axles thanks for the help considering a swap and need opinions as this is a dd too

do you have a tj dana 44 in the front? do you care about the different wheel bolt patterns?

IIRC a TJ front axle is gonna be ~60" WMS, and a dana 60 rear is gonna be anywhere from ~65-69" WMS... if you could find a 14b C&C axle it measures ~63" WMS, it might be closer to your measurement

Depends on the width of the D60. You can run a minimal spacer (less than 2" on factory offset wheels) but go too wide espically with large tires with deep offset wheels and you're asking for outer bearing failure. You might be able to get by with it but it's not the correct way to do it. D60's came in various different widths depending on the application so I would suggest shopping around to try to find one that isn't too much wider than your front. The cost of swapping in a D44 depends on your fab skills. If you or you have a good buddy that can weld and can set up a pinion angle then it wouldn't cost too much. If you're going to have a shop do all the work for you I'd bring the Vasoline. You will be happier with swapping the front in the long run.
