I am scrapping my diffs when I hit the trails. I need protection. What is better, to put on replacement heavy duty covers (like the expensive ARB or Rugged Ridge) or go with a cheaper "diff guard"? I am thinking the guard will protect my stock diff covers from eventually peeling back and then leaking oil. Has anyone used the diff guards like 4WD Heavy Duty Diff Guard or Warrior Products Rock Crawler Diff Guard? They look pretty strong for the money. Any Ideas? :driver:

If you have or know somebody with a welder you should weld some plate on the cover to beef it up.

The protection you describe would be served fine by either. I have run both. I think the heavy diff covers look a lot cleaner. Most have either a 3/8" or 1/2" outer band, and 1/4" plate for the rest of it. I have beat mine to death and no dents! We have some local guys here that make them. Mud Pro comes to mind first.

I've ran both types also. I had a THK fab front diff cover that was stupid strong. I would have snapped the axle in half before breaking the cover. i also used to have a tube style diff guard on my rear axle. Worked great. I'd say either way you are good.

With my new toyota axles, i'll be adding some steel plate to beef them up since they don't have removable covers.

I have all SOLID diff covers on sale for $75 each shipped to your door.
They have a lifetime warranty and come with sealer and hardware. Let me know if you're interested.

Actually those diff covers aren't on my site. The sale ends tomorrow which means ill have to place a bulk order and I'd have to double up the shipping charges which still puts them cheaper than any other diff cover.
