I'm looking to do the same conversion and if you don't take the brakes... I NEED them, my drums leak like a stuck pig.
Most guys do say it's not a big differance but you do have the conveiniance factor. The ZJ disk are really not that big and therfore don't give a TON of stopping power, but it is better than the drums.
