No off the shelf AEV kit here. This is my interpretation of the DIY hi-line coupled with 4.5" wide tube flares and JK turn signals. Theres a lot involved in all of it, but especially getting the fenders to be beefy and flow well with the lines of the jeep. The end result is about 4" more tire clearance, and (in my opinion) a really sweet looking jeep. I'll get some pictures of it out of the shop this week sometime. Had to relocate quite a few things under the hood, but I was able to reuse the stock airbox, unlike others that I've seen.

ADDED A TON OF FINISHED PICS IN POST 20: http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.php?threads/tj-hi-line-with-tube-flares.109286/#post-1024982

Man I like those. Nice clean look.

Are you going to comp cut the rear?

Thanks for the compliments.

Thats the future plan. Stretch the wheelbase and cut the tub. It already has the Gen-right tank and an 8.8 rear, so its ready for 37's.

That looks awesome, I think you took this idea straight out of my head :) mine is even a red 2000 :) I've got a place in my fender and I've debated the highline or repair the place. This helps alot.

Ok... so you trimmed the hood at the high cowl line, and then moved both the inner and outer fender up to match?

Yes, I believe it was 3-1/4" up. Everything is based off of that line, but it's extremely difficult to get the line to lay right along the hood because you are following 3 different curvatures. I made about three different passes per side, and then spent a lot of time smoothing/reworking/fitting with the flapdisc to get it right. Moving the outer fender up was easy, just redrill a couple bolt holes. On the inside, I had to rework the fender bracing and battery tray. Then cut off all the extra sheetmetal around the top of the tire and the front of the fender and cut down the forming behind the headlights.

Once all that is worked out, then you start moving around the electrical distribution box, computer, airbox, horn, charcoal canister, washer fluid reservoir, and whatever else prevents the hood from closing. Some things really fell into place, others were quite frustrating. I wanted it to looks as clean and factory as possible, so I minimized fabbing up new brackets and reused the existing brackets wherever possible.

I've seen a couple keep the oem fenders, and the hardest part seems to be the bottom part of the fenders mating to the tub, and the curves of the oem fenders mating to the grille. From what I've READ (supposedly) the trimming of the hood is the "easy" part.

I've looked at doing something like this a lot, but the way mine is now I could do 35's easy, with some minor trimming in the rear. I don't think I'd ever go larger since it'd require replacing most stuff under the jeep.

Did yours have the evap canister in the ass end? If so where did it go?(edit nm 2000s dont have the evap in the ass end)

I guess part of the reason the hood was so difficult is because I wanted it to look good BEFORE i put the trim over it, so I was probably way too particular about it. The majority of the OEM fender is still there, the tube fender bolts to it at front, top and rear.

The back hasn't been cut yet, but this particular jeep is a 97, so I think no evap canister.
those look good Matt... Only thing that would make them better is to have a storage compartment built in the back of the fender, similar to this:

Thanks Ben! I was looking at those pictures, trying to figure out how they fit storage in there, when I realized those are just tube fenders, not hi-lines, so they had 3 more inches of vertical space. Everything is TIGHT in that area on the hi-line. I had to machine the computer mounting bracket down 1/4" just to have clearance for the battery, and on the other side, the washer fluid reservoir is where the open space used to be.

I'm digin' it. I went with the MCEs cause I was dreading relocating stuff under the hood.

I think I'm going to change front bumpers, and have an exo ran from my sliders up the sides to a hood hoop/stinger.........eventually.

Staying short arm?

Yeah, running Ironman shortarms and RE 3.5" springs.

ironman adjustable uppers and lowers or just lowers? I'm looking at doing the same.

Matt, I'll email you some pics I took during the cutting process on the drivers side. Also the slick LED's.

Found some more pictures and thought I'd upload them to finish out the thread.
The yellow TJ is on 38.5" Creepies, with 4.5" springs and a 2" body, 6" bestop flares.
The red TJ is on 35" Trepadors, with 3.5" springs and a 1" body, 4.5" hi-line tube flares.

wanna tackle a CJ highline?
How beatup is the body? I'm not sure I can cut on a pristine one, but if its rough I'd do it o_O
I hate (love) the look of this jeep. Nice work. Let me know when I should drop mine off for this treatment.
Drop it off anytime, just make sure theres a nice wad of cash in the glovebox!
