TJ Hood vents, what does everyone use/have.

After burning my hand on my under hood arb compressor trying to air up leaving Uwharrie two weeks ago, I've been looking for hood vents to help let out some of the heat. I've looked at the poison spider hood vent kit but am worried the kit may rattle. I still drive my jeep from kannapolis to work in uptown Charlotte on occasion and don't want to add a rattle or ruin my hood by the vents rattling. I've got genright tube fenders with their aluminum inner fender kit and my jeep is a 4.0 with 4.88s 37"s and auto. Engine doesn't run hot but thermostat stays on the hot side while trail riding. Any suggestions.

Its free and you can put edge molding in the holes. I was surprised at the amount of hot air that escaped.

In for ideas... I'm completely inner fenderless but with no heat eascape on the highest point of my hood. Shouldn't overheat but time will tell.

Someone I rode with, can't remember who, added spacers on the hood hinges, such that the back of the hood was raised up maybe 1/2" or so. It let a lot of heat out, and probably helped with defrosting the windshield in the winter. And it was completely reversible, unlike cutting holes in your hood.

Not trying to offend anyone, but few things look goofier to me than hood standoffs. I started seeing them on Beetles when dudes couldn't fit their carb setup under the decklid. Then they started popping up on samurais as a way to clear the intake when someone did a 1.6 swap. It never looks right to me. Just looks broken when the body gaps are thrown off that bad.

Just go to Lowes and get an air return vent. Cut a hole in your hood and use some body filler and SS screws. Cheap and ugly, but it works.

The poison spider hood vents are awesome! No rattle and look and work well. I had one on a TJ. Well worth the money. Just my .o2
