whats the best bang for the buck to install in my daily driver tj has dana 35 rear running 35s 4 banger 5 speed dont have a lot of extra cash and i know the lockers arent cheap but i dont want to weld it since i drive 50 miles a day

I'm sure you know this................

But if you going to put a locker in a Dana 35 you will need to upgrade the shafts and possible truss the housing. I know you only have a four cylinder in it but the D35 is a very weak link especially already running 35's. It would be cheaper and more reliable in the long run to get a 8.8 and then lock it. You can even get one with the factory limited slip if you look around a little.

I wheel a 2.5 liter also. I locked my D35 and first trip out it busted the shafts. 20 mins into the ride, I had less than 100 miles on my locker when I sold it for $150. I had a Lock Rite paid $280 that could have went toward the 8.8.

Video of when mine broke.

Like already stated, I would advise not locking the D35

I now have an 8.8 and a locked D30 on 35s and love it.

it'd a dd, and a ticking time bomb of a rear axle, put the locker in the front

^this. Put a lunchbox locker in the front, and leave the rear open until you upgrade from the 35. Cheap, easy, and big improvement offroad.

I would also lock the front before the rear. I would go with a spartan locker. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. I have one front and rear and have not broken one yet.

another vote for locking the front. I have a 4cyl tj and with the options you're working with locking your front end will be a MUCH better option.

I run an aussie locker and have had it for probably 3 or 4 years with no problems.

On a TJ the front axle doesn't have locking hubs, so a locker in the front seems like it would affect steering and generally be hard on the axle? I'd put the money towards an 8.8 Most come with limited slip.

gubni, i have a aussie in the front and the only steering issues that I have on the road involve 4wd in the snow and ice and when i give or left off the gas it decides to pull...

i'm glad i locked the front first and didnt try and build up the 35. Killed that in tellico on 33's with little tire spin when it went.

Front first, 8.8 the rear. Locker up front isn't noticeable in 2WD. Somewhat noticeable in 4WD on sharp turns, but you wouldn't be in 4WD on dry pavement anyway.

Spartan is about like any other drop in locker. The pins are a little bit bigger and unlike the others they include a hardened center pin. I have been pretty abusive to mine with no breakage or problems.
