I have a 95 yj and i'm looking to upgrade to a coil style suspension. I know there is a black diamond coilover conversion kit but I don't really want to spend 5 grand on a kit. I know that there would be extensive modification required but is it possible to adapt a long arm tj kit such as a rough country to work on a yj?

Anything is possible, but with the amount "additional" you might as well just make everything.
The RC and other TJ bolt ons make a lot of compromises so that it is bolt on.
For a YJ, you'd need all new axle brackets, and then coil buckets up top. I'd go coilover or air shock to save those brackets, and then you'd just need the axle side control arm brackets. And some mods to make the bracket for the frame side mounts.

i would say to get you some tj axles, and a weld on kit. From there the only thing i think you should need is the coil buckets.

Here's a quick thought tho, what if you could get the front portion of the arm kit and leave it leaf on the rear. That should cut cost down by quite a bit. and if you are running a D30 then it will up-grade that in the process (if you get an XJ axle). And if you go really tall the leafs in the back will give you a little more stability than coils all the way around.

I would definitely say that this would maybe be cheaper to have a local shop do. They can build arms much cheaper than what can be purchased.
