Anyone have a on board air system on their TJ? I have been thinking about the ARB twin compressor but that SOB is expensive. Any suggestions on a good quality compressor that I can inflate 37's in a reasonable amount of time and possibly run some air tools with?

Thinking of a 2-2.5 gallon tank with plumbing to the compressor. Mainly for tire inflation with the possibility of running an impact gun.

That might work for the impact gun if the tank pressure is decently high to give you a head start on flow. Should work decent if the compressor has some time to let the tank pressure catch up.

For 37s, you'll drain that tank almost instantly and then be running off the compressor at that point, but no big deal there. Tank volume doesn't really matter, because you'll never want to carry a tank big enough to save much time with the huge air volume of a set of 37s. The compressor output is the most important thing for tires because of that, instead of the tank size..

The on board air systems with York style compressors can flow upwards of 10cfm at 90psi. More expensive than an electric compressor but more cool factor too.

I carry around a dinky rip off gator clip air compressor from harbor freight for airing up. I took it apart and removed the temp sensor which will most likely fail in the first few air up sessions.

Do I get all of the poon that the bros with their ARB 100% duty cycle get? Nah. Does it compress air just like on board units? Sure. Plus when is the last time you saw someone running air tools from their jeep on the trail? Forget the tank and just carry around a cheater bar for the heavy stuff.

A greased sanden puts out a decent volume as far as filling tires goes but the rings won't hold up for extended run times at higher rpm. York is the way to go. Co2 or scuba tank works well as well, though limited in total run time/capacity. Electric cordless impacts have come a long way as well.

I'm going with the ARB twin mounted under the seat I'm pretty sure. A little pricey but I can keep my A/C and easily run air lockers when the factory lockers give up on me. Thanks for all the info guys .
