TJ PRE JAN 1997 REPLACE GRILL AND HOOD PROJECT W/ AFTER JAN PARTS

Hi,
Am I OK to replace pre 1997 hood and grill with post 1997 hood / grill? Mkine has the YJ latch arrangement (on grill). Also, if the answer is yes... can I replace it with as late as a 2006?

As far as I know, all of the TJ hoods and grills are the same. But obviously my information is not very good, because I did not know there was a pre-1997 hood/grill. The hood latches for CJ/YJ/TJ all go from fender to hood, and have a safety catch in the grill (not sure on CJ's).

no idea on the TJ stuff, but 76-86 CJ-5 -7 and -8's did have the center safety latch.
 
There are "early 97" TJ's with different hood latches and openings in the grille for the center latch. IIRC, you need to match the grille and hood latch correspondingly.
 
Thanks, that's what I figured... as long as I match the late 97 to 2006 hood/grille I should be OK. Sorry about the confusion, when I said latch, I meant the safety latch.
