Well, should've seen this one coming. When I have a moment of income the Jeep decides to break and snatch it all away. I've noticed lately I had a vibrating feel/roaring sound whenever I would hit in between 50-60mph on the highway, either in 5th or 6th gear (if I was heading down hill), not only when I was coasting but even when I was pushing on the throttle. ANYWAYS, I had to travel out to Cullowhee yesterday and it did alright there besides the vibrating/roar but on my way back, I noticed a loss in power, the Jeep struggled to get up that mountain.

Well, we went to dinner and on the way home, we pulled over at a gas station, noticing the Jeep was WAY louder than it has since I've owned it, crawling around at 11:30 at night, my exhaust pipe has a new hole in it! I just replaced this thing in October! Well, after searching more and more this morning before work, we noticed the bracket that holds the exhaust pipe in place had snapped off and punctured the pipe and created about just larger than a quarter sized hole.

NOW- I drove it to work this morning with it being crazy loud still, and when you press on the throttle, it still gives you the roaring sound, but the vibrations have lessened, (maybe because the broken bracket wasn't rattling around...?) We also noticed this morning though, that my front axle, where the drive shaft is connecting, is very very loose, the U-joints are just fine, we checked the gear fluid and levels were just fine. I plan on changing the front axle fluid this evening, but while we were there, we checked the engine mounts and the transmission mounts just in case they were the cause, but they were just fine.

Any suggestions or ideas of what might be causing this? One thought I've seen from researching is maybe the ring & pinion in the front axle has too much play going on in it but we didn't find a lot of metal shavings in it and the research continues, just thought I'd try and find some info here.

Very loose front to back, or very loose when you rotate the driveshaft? Is the jeep stock or lifted? The exhaust should be an easy fix.

When you rotate it. It's stock. I'm taking the Jeep to a muffler shop this week to get it patched

Oh, I think I know where that is. See ya tomorrow.
