I hope this is the right place for this but if not mods please move it to the right place. This is not a want ad just yet, just would like some thoughts from those with more brains than me on accident repairs.

I am thinking to buy a TJ that has some fender damage and a bent bracket on the dana 30 lower control arm mount from a bit of a run in with a pole. So a couple specific questions.

Fender: I was wondering what's the best place to look to get a replacement. I'd prefer a salvage yard find or part out or someone who has built up a jeep and basically removed and wants to get rid of a fender (as opposed to a new aftermarket fender). Does anyone know of anyone who might be looking to offload one (only need the pass side).

LCA mount. I am thinking that cut the old one off, grind down the leftover metal on the axle tube and weld on a new one. I see these are available from various suppliers. Anything special about welding onto a dana 30 front axle tube? Can this be done with the actual axle inside the tube or would there be a need to pull the axle shaft? Also, I have an older hobart arc welder. Would this likely be appropriate for the job or would a mig or something else be more appropriate. Anyone out there do this kind of repair. It seems trivial for someone that does welding everyday, but might push my skills too far.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Brian, just keep an eye open in the for sale section and a fender will pop up. As for the axle, might want to take it to one of the local shops that advertise on here and let them do the repair for you. It wouldn't be an easy job to do in the driveway and winter is allmost here.
