What's the hot ticket for TJ side mirrors? I've seen the ones where you move the stock mirrors up to the cowl. That looks like a terrible idea. Maybe okay when the doors are off, but the doors hit them when they're on, and the A-pillar gets in the way of seeing the mirror.

What about the little CJ-style mirrors? Something that drops into the hinge hole or permanently mounts to the cowl, etc.

Cheaper is better, but I'm willing to spend a little bit extra for something that doesn't suck. And looking over my shoulder definitely sucks.

5/16" (I believe) solid rod from the hardware store. Die cut the ends to thread a bolt on. $10 mirror at the local auto parts store. Best part is you can bend the rod to place the mirror wherever you like and it fits in the hinge so it easily swings away. Or you can add a small tab to the bottom end and bolt it to the body using the hinge bolts if you still want to use your hinges for half doors.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

I'll let you know how it goes. :D

I can take more pictures tonight if you'd like to see the tab at the bottom or the actual mirror mount.

You just bend an S out of it and cut threads in the hinge side, right?

Basically yes. The top is welded to the mirror bracket. At first I just dropped them through the hinge and put a bolt on the bottom. Then I used soft doors for a while so I made a different bend in it and bolted it to the windshield hinge.

Just google Harley long stem mirrors. You can find them pretty much anywhere. I got mine from Ebay for about $20, obviously they would be more at a bike shop. They fit the hinge hole perfectly, and are a cheap quick solution.
