Several months ago my TJ wouldn't start occasionally. I could turn the key, the lights/gauges/beep would come on as normal, but the starter would engage/turn the engine. No funny noises or anything, the starter just didn't turn. I could wait a few seconds, turn the key again and it would crank right up! Sometimes it did this, sometimes it didn't. It was noticebly worse if I turned the engine off and then tried to crank it again within a short time - IE stopping to get gas. I thought my starter may be getting weak because it turned over a little slow.. However the issue quit altogether for a couple of months.

Then... it started happening again and finally would not crank at all. Same scenario.. gauges, lights, radio all work, but when I turn the key, starter doesn't turn. So I replaced the starter, same issue.... I checked my grounds, battery cables look near new, I had power at the starter, starter relay checked OK per procedure in the FSM, I can find no blown fuses, and I replaced the ignition switch and still the same problem..... I replaced the battery in August and I've charged it to be sure and still the same issue.

I'm about to remove the new starter, take it back to AutoZone and have them check it.

It does have an alarm, I have not disconnected it, but I may try it if nothing else works.

Have I missed something????
