TJ suspension/tire questions

I am going to suspension lift my stock 2000 TJ, 4". And I am going to buy new steelies 15X8. I want the biggest tires I can fit under her after I get the 4" of lift.

Should I specify a certain backspacing for the rims I order?

What is the max tire size I will be able to fit under her, without scrubbing?

Thanks, C.

I wouldn't go larger than 35s 12.50s with the stock axles. The rear D35 will be your trouble spot. Just take it easy and you will be fine.

But back to the question, You can fit 35s with a 4 inch lift, You will barely rub at full bump. You should try to find about 4 inchs of back spacing on the wheels, I also prefer a 15 x 8 over a 15 x 10, The skinnier wheel will help keep the bead, It gives you a nice bulge on the tire to keep the rim off rocks and ruts. With my steelies and 4 inch BS the tire will still just barely touch the control arm at full lock left but not right for some reason.

I ran 35s on a 3 inch lift for years with out issue, Just some rubbing like I said at full bump. I have since added a 1 inch BL.

35s on the 3 inch with the 1 inch BL,

That's the same set-up I'm looking to do on my TJ

3" Suspension
1" Body
15x8's with 4" BS
35" tires

Glad to hear you have some success with it.

I have since the pic,

Put the 4 inch BS wheels on the pic has 3 inch BS wheels. I have also custom built a 3 link long arm set up for the front since then, that pics from last year. Here is how it sits now.

Sorry to jack your thread.

35"s on stock axles is reeeeally pushing it. Think about a Super35 kit- that way you will be much stronger and have a locker.

I ran 35"s on a RE 3.5" kit (RE measures out taller though) and had very little issues. Throw on some tube fenders and you will be really set.

Now I'm running 37" Rockers on the same 3.5" lift with no body lift. Low and squatty.

35"s on 4" backspaced 15" wheels with 1.5" Spidertrax spacers:

What front axle are you running?

And you all most swap a 8.8 in for the cost of the super35 kit.

Dana 30 in that picture, I have since swapped in a Rubi 44 with alloy shafts.

I have yet to have any problems with the Spidertrax spacers. The added stability actually makes them one of my favorite mods.
