What is stock wheel travel for a TJ front/rear ?

How much travel do the standard lift kits add?

Seems like everything I've seen pics of has a spacer shoved somewhere.

I'm curious as I'm picking out various components to use in my build..

i think it depends on the length of the control arms... the longer the control arm, the more travel you can get from it... On stock control arms, the stock springs would have just as much travel, if not more, as a lift...

My comment was referencing the point that if you add a 4" lift coil along with 2" bump stop puck, your 4" lift only really netted you 2" more travel (at the shock).

Let me rephrase my question: How much travel do stock TJ shocks have. Front/Rear

I figured all the TJ guys would know this off top of their head along with their RTI numbers :D

Based on some research last night, most aftermarket shocks for a 4"-6" lift indicate ~10" travel for a front shock. (15"/25")

SO.... if i subtract the 4" lift is a stock shock only 6" travel ? I guess, I was thinking they had a little more travel, stock, maybe not.. Guess I go pull a shock off the parts heep sitting in the snow bank to have a look.

stock front stock travel is 8.7 and rear is 7.5, numbers are taken from a procomps shocks for 0-1 inches of lift

When I did my 4" lift on my TJ it wasn't the control arms or the shocks that limited my travel it was the track bar. When I took it out my rear axle would fall far enough that I could remove the springs with out unhooking the shocks.

As for Bumb stops I was kind foolish I used the fenders as bumpstops was hard on the tires and body work but great for flex.

Slade - You better be 1/2 way to somewhere by now... Fool !!!

Thats good info on the track bar, hopefully I won't have that problem.

what the plan for links on the Jeep, I saw your going with mid type links, But if you are going to triangulate the rear, it would do away with the need for the trackbar. Oh course i am sure you know this.
