Well its official!! I just FINALLY finished all of my out-processing from base(only took the last month to do all this paperwork) and have 66 days of vacation time saved up which starts monday!! Meaning I will be able to do whatever for the next 2 months and still make a paycheck(reason im going to KOH :)

So basically im on vacation until March 20th and will become a civilian for good then! Gonna be weird not wearing a uniform anymore.....

Im excited though because i moving back home which means i will be able to be more involved with you guys from now on and help however I can!

Oh and Im going to school for forestry.....might be a ranger at URE one day lol I wish!(if not I might just go work on jets at Honda jet since thats what I know how to do)

Hope to meet ALOT more of you guys this yeah its going to be a good one!

Congrats! Thanks for your service!!!

Now you can be a bearded long-haired hippy freak...post pic in 66 days.

Congratulations Ben

Greatly appreciate your service...

Youre in for a shock, it is an odd feeling for a while, at least it was for me leaving the marines.

Couldn't agree more! It does feel very weird. But once you get used to it, it's all good. Good luck finding a job tho. I hope you lined something up before you got out. At least once A day I wish that I was still in the Marines wearing that green or tan uniform. But like they say hine-sight is 20/20.

Thanks for your service and you'll get used to civilian life pretty quick but some of those military habits will be with you forever. Been out 20 years and I still check my gig line.

Thanks for what you have done!!!!!Enjoy your time off, you have earned it!

Thanks and Congrats

Thanks guys means alot! Its an awesome feeling to not be driving back to base tonight and actually staying home with my wife for the first time since we have been married(married for year and 5 months now)so we are loving it! Especially sice she goes to work tomm and Im gonna stay in the bed and sleep in LOL!

Dont worry though i just got my first JEEP yesterday which I prob wont keep long since im still a Yota guy (and still have my yota lol) plus its got a 350 chevy in it lol! Its a project and i have alot more that will keep me busy!

As far as plan goes after my seperation date which is March 20th i have a few different guys wanting me to work for them under the table and getting unemployment until the fall to start my schooling.

Cant wait to go riding this year since i will have the time to get my rigs right, meet some more of you guys and have a great year!!

Thank you for your service.
Now on the forestry part...don't.
Well dont until you talk to several. My first undergrad degree was in Forestry. I graduated with 96. I know of 14 that EVER found a job in the industry, and none o which make 35k/year 10 years later. There is more to life than money but the ROI isnt here, and most Forestry gigs will almost prefer someone with a 2 year degree to a 4 yar as dumb as that sounds.

PM me if you want and I can share my experience and give you some phone numbers of guys to talk to.

Thanks guys its been AWESOME so far just working on my stuff and being lazy!lol!

Wel my uncle just retired as a ranger last year after doing it for 25 years. I know lots of ppl in the industry and know they dont make crap but to tell you the truth I would take a big cutt in pay just to somewhat enjoy the job I have to go to everyday BUT I def have heard what your telling me with getting a job for sure.

Who knows....I almost thought about moving out to Wyoming for a year and go to wyotech or something.....just not sure exactly what I wanna do right now....hence being the reason I didnt go to college and went into the military thinking i would know by now and still dont HAHA!

I would LOVE to have my own shop someday and just work on crawlers/hotrods/diesels/ any of that stuff just not sure if i want to turn wrenches everyday....

It's guys like you that remind me not to take the freedoms I enjoy in our great country for granted. Tax dollars well spent IMO!
