To chisel or not to chisel...

I have an 87 4Runner that I am working on. I am going to spray the floor front to back with bedliner and then lay a vinyl floor over it, but I can't decide if I want to strip the factory sound deadener (the aggravating stuff glued to the floor) out first or not. I have a feeling that this stuff causes some of the rust problems. What is everyone's thoughts?

When I did mine some of it literally pulled off and some was a pure pain. I didn't use dry ice but i've heard it works rather well. I would do it just for the fact of what you said rust, and the bedliner might not stick to it well.

Leave it on. Paint over it. When it peels off, paint where it peeled of.

At least that's what I did to mine.

Mine came off good with a few swings of a BFH. Just shattered and detached.

I painted over another truck i had for 5 years. Bed liner never came off.

Chisel is worthless.... I always take a stainless steel wire wheel on on 4 1/2 inch angle grinder to that shit.... Gets the job done better than anything....
