This artic weather kick in boone sucks. I get up this morning to find my weather bug saying the windchill is -7. Still have class, so I go stand at the bus stop for 10 minutes in the cold before I realize i've missed the bus. Then its so cold my dads car (the yj is getting sprayed) has alot of trouble running and traffic is backed up almost to the exit of my apartment complex so I miss class anyways. I hate cold. Just felt like venting.

Welcome to the world of Boone. Biggest thing you can do is always expect the worse up there.

I have always enjoyed going to the mountains and driving in the snow. Once I was up there when the temp was -17, no telling what the chill factor was. It was so cold the water in the bowl of my carb was freezing and killing my engine. The only fix at that point was to sit, let it thaw, and go till it stopped again. Finally got a couple bottles of alcohol and poured it in the tank, then I wrapped the carb in foil to hold the heat in and block the outside air from cooling it so easy.

Ahhh, the allure of Boone where it rains/snows horizontally. Nice place to visit...... 20-30 years ago it was a nice trek on the weekends with visits to the old stores, etc..... Now days its trampled and over rated. I spent a freshman year there and was glad to be heading back down the mountain for good.

What complex do you live at?

Im to the point now where the cold doesnt really bother me. I can walk around in short sleeves and feel fine.

Until it gets super windy and the temp drops below 0..then it sucks

Ratlabguy...thanks for the comment.

I live in mountaineer village. The cold doesn't bother me either its the negative wind chills that suck. When its this cold and not snowing is when it gets semi-upsetting.

I still have no idea where Mountaineer Village is...
Tomorrow is going to suck. Hard.

if I remember right - heading W on King St, ou vear to teh right and go up, and up, and up? I that the one w/ the hairpin turn? It's been 8 years so my memory isn't great.

My junior year at App ('98?), we once had about 2' in < 24 hrs. Worst in years, they had to declare state 'o emergency and shut down everything, even made illegal to be out on roads. Roomy and I got yelld at by a copy b/c we were out playing in my Cherokee the next day.
I lived off Bamboo Rd, behind the airport (yes, there's an airport). That was a fun commute when the weather was crap.

man, i miss teh weather there... nasty winters, but summer is absolutely fabulous.

Kinda, if your commin into boone on 421 from wilkesboro. As you head over the last hill right after that light with the foodlion to the right. If you look over to the right you'll see the complex. Its off yosef dr. which is right past the boone sign. If you are commin down from King Street its the first road to the left after the speed limit jumps up to 45.

Well it's 3:39am and I'm heading out the door to apply ice melt to sidewalks and parking lots. I'll be there until everybody is safely inside of my properties.:flipoff2:
