To flip down or swing out?

The tailgate hinge on my TJ has a pivot pin that has broken. I cant decide between making my tailgate flip down or to keep the swingout function. What have yall used and liked or disliked?

What are you using for spare tire carrier? If I wasn't carrying a spare on the tailgate I'd probably go flip down.

There's a couple versions of that that have been on the market for years. They just don't come with the actual tire carrier part. You can bolt on a stock one or any of the HD aftermarket ones.

If I go flip down then I will get a bumper with spare tire carrier. If I stay swing out then I will carry the spare on the tailgate like stock

$730 :eek::eek::eek::eek: nah I'm good.
 
I have gotten myself into a recovery situation where I couldn't open the tailgate to get to my recovery gear. Having a swing away tire on the bumper would not have been any better. I have the Gr8tops exogate.
 
I have nothing to add except that it would be cool if the drop down conversions had a feature to allow you to set it to drop to horizontal or allow it to go all the way down, just to make reaching stuff easier in certain cases.
