to much compression

this is a 22re from toyota bored 40 over pistons say .75 loosened all belts... with plugs removed turns over fine with plugs in it barely turns over.. any ideas would help...
 
When tryin to do a compession check it bogs the motor down when it hits the cyl being checked the battery is showing good and never drops below 10.5 wouldnt start being jumped off
 
does anyone know were i can get a high torque starter for a toyota or what kind of stronger starter i can put on to get this going
 
You having a timing issue! It's been a while since I worked with timing since all my vehicles are distributerless now but I believe hard cranking means you have the timing advanced to far. Try turning the distributor clock wise about 1/8 of a turn. If this doesn't fix it you may need to check your timing marks on your timing belt.

I double checked the motor timing its dead on And I re set the distributor timing still no luck Anything else???? It sounds like the starter is struggling like hell to turn each cyl

Next step would be to test you battery and starter I got feeling one of them are bad. Being a four cylinder unless it is built to the hill you should not need a high torque starter.
 
Ok so the battery dont drop below 10.5 from the starter draw and the starter is brand new but I knOw it still could be a dud. As far as the motor goes it's bored 40over, block been shaved, head milled down,new valves springs cam pretty much everything excpt the head and block are brand new
 
Got a compression gauge? With a milled block and head you may very well have too much compression. Did you put in higher compression pistons too?
 
Yea the motor will turn over freely till it hits the cyl with the hose and it acts like it's dying I only got it to 80 because it struggles to complete the revolution as far as pistons go they are just rock oversize that matches the bore size there flat stock shape not dome or anything
 
Reman starter from AA or Vato zone? Odds are it's junk if that's where it's from and it can't compress 1 cylinder's worth at 80 psi. You should have 150 or more and the starter shouldn't miss a beat. Especially if you got the plugs removed from the other 3 cyls.
 
timing is a non issue as you are having difficulty turning it over with only a compression gauge in the cylinder(IE: no plugs, no fire to time). Get a load tester for a battery, the ones harbor freight sells will work(don't get the digital, get the analog one with the dial), load test your battery, if it checks good, then move the ground lead of the load tester to the starter housing or engine block. load test again and see if you have a major change in the reading, if you do, you have a bad ground, negative connection, or ground wire, return the ground lead of the load test to the negative terminal on the battery and hook the positive lead to the starter solenoid, test again, this will check the positive cable and connections. Then hook both leads to the block and the solenoid, load test again, this will complete the circuit. If your battery is good, odds are you have a bad ground or positive cable, if they check good then look at the starter
 
Thats what I'm thinking. It sounds like you have an issue getting power to the starter. Is the - post grounded to the frame or block? If its to the frame make sure the ground strap from the frame to the block is in good shape. It should have one somewhere.
