bought this pile on the forum a little over a year ago...

brought it home and patched a few rusty spots and put a real suspension on it. TG 4" fronts and 63" chevy's in the rear. Also ordered and install some crossover steering from trail gear.

Got tired of crappy shocks and but some bilstein 5150's up front and 5125s in the rear. Much better ride.

Went to URE with this setup and got royally pissed off at the carb and gearing. it would bog down and run like crap and the gear was to high so it was just a pain to drive. I got back and found a dual case setup with a bud built skid/mount. Picked it up and installed the dual cases, a square front driveshaft and TG bomb proof motor mounts all at the same time. Went driving around the house to test out the gearing and this happened.

I guess thats one way to look at the doubler after you get it installed.

When it rolled down there it did 3 full rolls and then landed on its side... the last roll it hit the tree with the rear of the frame and cracked both frame rails at the rear spring hangers.
 
just buy a truck already built man and you would be good to go I got you one :)! Sorry to see your roll though bud
 
So I bought a clean second gen frame with plans to swap everything over but then I got a deal on this.

only bought the cab and frame but saved a whole lot of the work of welding hangers and braces and patches. Got it home and got my axles and steering swapped in, in only a few hours.

the ugly truckling begins...

Got the motor in and realized that it still runs like crap even though it sits in a second gen frame... damn carbs. This was when i decided build a propane kit. I also decided to clip a little bit of the useless roll cage if you can call it that off and save some weight. Also picked up a set of 36x13.50 Iroks from a guy on here down near raleigh.

Built a carb adapter from 2" Trailer hitch tubing and some 1/8" plate, bought a used propane carb, lockout, and regulator and ordered rebuild kits for all of them from Helmar Parts.

Runs like a champ now.
 
Ran at the DADFL benefit at the Flats and was really impressed with how the truck did. Ran all over that mountain and only had to ride cable at a couple points throughout the day and that was only in places where a lot of people were riding cable.

Also found a way to load two built trucks on a 30ft goose.

lol give it some time.....it takes no time to at all if you buy the right parts....
 
yeah oh trust me Im the same way......you will see sometimes it bites u hard on some of the used "deals" you get lol! When alot of times u can save money and time when your having to replace those "deals" lol

Tough one on the doubler test drive! What is the other rig on the trailer?
 
i bout bought this truck last year, and the guy acted sorta funny about it. I told him I wanted it and he never called me back. But looks like you enjoying it looks good.
 
The guy was shady... I called and offered him cash then I got there and he tried to change the deal. It want worth what I paid in hindsight as the frames repair that appeared solid and felt solid to a hammer failed in a minor roll.
