Just had this about a year ago with my then 7 year old.
Without putting a lot of thought into a long post some random thoughts.
- Its a routine surgery, but mom is gonna freak a bit hug her a few extra times and re assure her the doctors know what they are doing.
- Dont rush it afterwards even though he will probably be starving. (it took weeks to get regurgitated Wendy's Frosty out of the car)
- Everyone says ice cream, but honestly by the time my son could eat ice cream he was ready for solids. For day 1 and 2 jello and freeze pops were about it.
- Cold stuff helps (my son just added that)
- Lane had to have one side stitched and the other cautherized (whatever you are the doc burned shut) that took a while to heal...apparently depends on the size of the veins feeding feeding blood to the tonsils.
- And be prepared for talking or crying to hurt a lot.
Oh yeah...
makes dad feel better....son not so much.
