too much tire for rim?

I'd personally go with a 10" wide rim.

Personally I think that's waaaaaaay too much tire...gonna be killer on the center tread, and I'd worry about the bead too. I'd at least opt for 10" wide rims...but personally, I'd probably go for 12" wide.

I've some 33/15.50/15 swampers on 8" steel rally wheels. Ran them on burb for until I got tired of replacing axles from too much traction. I was surprised how well they worked,so I guess it's possible but good sense tells me wider would be better.

I ran 14.5" wide boggers on 15x8's for a long time, but had to run them at 16psi on the street for them to wear evenly, not that I drove it on the street much.

I ran 35 boggers 16 wide on 8" wheels no issues, could air down to 8psi on the trail no loosing air

rim/tire

i run 36/12.50/15 tsls and wouldnt change to a ten inch rim, especially on a wrangler cause of how the rim sticks so far out and looks rather crappy in my opinion, and if the tire has good side wall its better as to not have the tire valve sticking any further out and/or damage the rim in rocky situation. just my 2 cents. and as the other person said 16psi on street?????? try 35 for good wear and even wear. 16psi sounds scary, but whatever works for each person.

Yes, 35x14.5" boggers on an 8" rim require that to wear even across the width of the tread. For that matter, 35psi is beyond the max inflation of a Bogger in that size...
