Hey guys quick question...(well not so quick)
LR3 driver here...[ducks]...

Our home is on the market, and we had an open house kicking us out for 2 hours today...voila! A good reason to get the wife and 5yo up to Uwharrie, plus the Uwharrie Safari is this weekend so off we went.

We visited some other rover folks at the campground, looked at some of the other trucks and camping accoutrement, the daughter participated in the scavenger hunt, and then we took off to take my wife on the trails for the first time. The plan was to do Wolf Den, then Falls Dam and head home.
I get to the trail head, let some air out and set off. We got behind a line of jeeps and a Ranger Rover County, having a good time. The daughter and I had done a short section of Wolf Den in moms shiny ,new to her, LR4 last fall. When my wife realized where and what we did with her truck it was kinda funny.

So I'm following the Range Rover on up. We get to a fork, and some folks are coming down from the right blocking that section of trail, and the group in front goes left. Hard left where you had to back up up a bit to make the turn. So I go left. Eventually I let the group get out of sight, and the trail starts going down. We go down for a while, and I start thinking, that man, wolf den shouldn't be this long. I took note of the trail sign (90), say "babe, look at that map and see what trail is 90?".... "Dutch John" she said...i probably turned white, or a shade or two whiter than I already am.
Never been on that trail, but knew it was supposed to be one of the harder trails, and I had my wife and kid with me in a stock vehicle. I was at the bottom of a section of divided trail. Divided by probably a 6ft high or so "wall". Not knowing what was ahead, I made the decision to turn around, and luckily I had just enough room to do so.

My question is, what was ahead of me? My truck did fine up until this point, but didn't want to risk getting into trouble down further so I turned and bailed...

Good for some laughs for,sure...

That was the "intrenched hill climb" really not bad at all when it's dry, wet is a bit harder (lots of skinny pedal) after that is really nothing to speak of and the trail comes out on RML...it's a short drive to the double parking lot from there and a LONG drive back the way you came!!!

Probably was a good idea to turn around where you did. There are a couple of rocky sections and of course the hill toward the end. I've seen plenty of stock vehicles with inexperienced drivers get stuck at the rocks about mid-way through the trail.

bought my disco and did all of uwharrie completely stock before i had even sent in the first payment. only flopped it on its side one time.

you'd have been alright.

I've seen pictures/vid of the entrenched hill climb. I don't think I was down quite that far, and it wasn't a real long drive back to wolf den. Certainly didn't want to put my truck on its side...hah.
