There are NO COLLECTABLE cars from the 90's...............my wifes 93 Nissan 240sx was a damn fine automobile.........but not collector quality IMO.
I think I agree. I don't think the 90s stuff is ever gonna be "collectible" except maybe the "skunkworks" types like the Saleens or the Ligenfelters. (and anything that cost 100k plus, new, doesn't even factor in. That stuff is collectible the day it rolls out) The 90s cars have no character. Yes they were better cars than the old stuff. But they are so sterile and so mass produced. They all look so alike. Nothing really makes the entire "package" stand out from the rest.
Pretty much everything that gets old these days is called "collectible". But, other than rarity, I believe what make cars desirable are cars that bring back memories of a particular era or culture. Any exciting time in automobilia. I don't think the 90s stuff did that.
The last notable, factory produced, cars that come to mind, in my opinion, were stuff like the Buick Grand National. The Viper. The impala SS. (The violence of a Buick Grand National is comparable to a Hemi 'Cuda or 427 Corvette.) The Viper was a ground up sports car. (What the Corvette originally was! No comforts. Just performance!) The Impala SS was just cool. In the same vein as a Road Runner. (Big American business coupes and sedans that go pretty quick and pretty fast!)
And just so I can shake off some of that old nostalgia that shines thru my opinions here...I think the 2000s, so far, have yielded some great American muscle cars. I think these will be sought after some day!
Oh...and BTW. Yes. I find nothing Japanese collectible in my eyes. I'm sure there are sought after Toyotas or Nissans, but I dont see it! They just dont do anything to "stir my soul"
Where does it ever say anything about most collectible? This is just a list of "the best".... very different...
he he he..Just noticed that!
