I'm a volunteer fireman for Icard Township Fire Dept. and it has been crazy since about 6:20 yesterday. I worked till after 2am w/ a little break to come home eat and set up the generator for the family. I didn't get hit I just lost power. Didnt' get to work w/ the dept but a half day today due to me and my kids Dr. appointments this morning but was back at it after lunch. I was on one of five crews assessing the damage and some of the damage is just un believable. It made a path about a mile wide basically all the way through our district missing my house by about 1/2 mile. If anyone needs fire wood there is plenty to be had. We had a total of 34 complete destruction of homes and 31 major destructions. We didn't assess the out buildings or anything like that but I'm guessing over 100 sheds/car ports. Multiple camper turned over and even seen a truck completely on it's top.
All I have to say is thank God for the Volunteers. Samaritains Purse, Red Cross, Salvation army and many others on here helping people. We've had calls from all kinds of companies like Home Depot willing to give whatever they need to.
I'll try to get some of my personal pictures up later tonight if I don't fal asleep first.
I live on the water of lake wylie and have seen my share of bad storms.. For some reason the point I live on sees alot more wind than most other homes but last night was scary.. I had the TV volume up and surround sound on and I could still hear a whistle from outside and tree limbs were bouncing all over my roof. I walked outside to almost get blown over! Since all the trees near my house were blown down from the last storm I figured the only other worst case scenario would be the house blows away this time... Fortunately it didnt... Glad to hear everyone is ok!
