Thinking about ditching my gutless 4 banger, but the only thing I've ever swapped into a 'yota was a smallblock. I've got a TBI 4.3 chev complete with a 700r4 and a 208 case, but I'm wondering what my best option is. I've read about the 3.4 swap, the 1uz-2uz v8 swaps, and even a few oil burner swaps. But I have little to no experience with any of them. Anybody here ditched the 22re in favor of anything with more guts? Is there a simpler swap than the tbi v6 I have?

I figure the 4.3 swap won't be too difficult, but there are a few pita things when trying to avoid swapping everything other than sheetmetal. Most of the scb/sbf swaps I've done have been carburated and only runnning basic gauges required for offroading or racing purposes. Also noticed that the sbc requires a body lift to clear everything easily and I'd rather avoid that if there is a way around it.

call this guy. he swapped a 350 chevy and an auto trans in a 2wd a few yrs ago and built a hauler style flat bed for it. Its carbed and is for sell from another owner from what I understand. I think he even had power steering worked out. He's not a wheeler but pretty good with the toyota's. His name is Terry 828-320-6985
