No helpful info to follow but heres my contribution.My dually quit in Lex KY 5 miles from my destination and dude wanted $150 to haul it the 5 miles,now granted it was about 1am when I called.I bought a Thomas School bus (66 pass) w a bad inj pump and they charged me $175 to pull it 35 miles.IIRC the goin rate for around town is about $50.

More less helpful info similar to 1-ton: Last time I paid to have something towed it was 70ish bucks to go about 10 miles, but the truck broke on a weekday morning and I didn't do any shopping around. Called local tow company and said "pick me up here." It was also larger company so cash or card didn't matter.

Thinking out loud: are you the hauler, or the haulee? I get the vibe that your time and equipment has been requested and you want to know what is fair to charge.

My buddy with a tow truck charged me $100 to pick my truck up from the tow yard and haul it 50 miles back home. probably 150 miles for him driving.

Everything depends. For a friend... Fuel and lunch. For someone I don't know... 42 miles... It would depend if it will drive on the trailer or be a pain in the ass and other factors. I would probably be in the $150 range.

Hell, considering the situation, $1,000 would have been a deal, $100 was more than fair.

I was quoted $135 on I-40 to tow me to the next exit. Mechanic friend and member here came from Broadway(Sanford) and towed it on a Friday evening going into 4th of July weekend for like $1/mile, that was a hell of a favor. I now have my own trailer and unless it is my tow rig that breaks down I go get it myself.

Exactly why my wife has AAA Gold. Up to 100 mile tow included. At that point, we just call the man.
