I know it's last notice but I picked up the black 98 XJ with first gear syncro out off the forums here Tuesday evening. Little did I know it had a cracked exhaust manifold as well and was way down on power.

I ended up buying it because I was Planning on fixing most the issues it had. But apparently Starting it in 2nd so much put more wear than I thought on the clutch.

So long story short i was on I-85 home and the clutch completly gave out. So I'm staying at a buddy's in Winston Salem for now but need to get it towed back to my House in Cary. I would cover all gas and lunch and what not.

If not all just Sack up and get it towed by a towing company.

Just a little aside: something to practice once you get it home and fixed is driving without using the clutch. When I bought my first manual truck that was something my dad told me to be sure to learn just in case the clutch went out so I could still get home to where I could work on it.

A tow from GSO to Raleigh may be cheaper than fuel/food! :shaking:

Will be traveling that direction (W-S> Raleigh> W-S) tomorrow and may be able to help you out, but would need a go/no go decision by 6PM today to get everything connected/fueled in time to hit Raleigh by 0800...

Glad you got it back, I could have helped friday at the earliest.

Ya I was looking at over a 200$ tow bill but the guy I bought it from let me use his AAA gold so I could get it towed the 66 miles I still had left in the trip. Real stand up guy for getting back up with me after I let him know what happened and helping get me home. I know most sellers wouldn't have done anything after they got paid.
