So, finally got some gears in the big F150, along with a shiny new set of rear leafs, new brakes and a bigazz trans cooler. Anybody out there towing with a truck on 8" of suspension lift? I've got two trailered boats, a 16 footer that I can almost tow with the Toyota, and a 26 footer that we were towing with a 2008 Tundra. Aside from needing a pretty long drop drawbar, is there any other potential problem with using the F150 as a tow rig? Only thing I've ever pulled with it is a snatch strap, but the downsizing of the fleet has left me temporarily without a tow rig.

4x4cross' cummins is on 39.5s and 8 inch of lift and we tow all the time....the only issue i see if the f150 will suck down gas like a slut at a frat party

It was a marginal tow rig stock, now it is going to be worse.

It's a 78 model with a 460 in it, it sucks down gas like a slut at a frat party idling in the driveway. I've never had a gas burner get over 9mpg towing the big boat, so the 6mpg this pig will hopefully pull off won't kill me for the 3-4 trips I'll make on it this summer. It has plenty of power to move what I need to move, and I belive the upgraded brakes will handle it, plus the trailer has a freshly rebuilt set of surge brakes, my main concern is handling the tall load on the trailer without major issue. Does the cummins have any serious sway issues with a heavy load?

I used to have 37 Iroks on my F250 tow rig. The reason its been downsized to 35 all terrains is because I had 3 of the Iroks blow out the sidewall on 2 consecutive trips to URE when towing.

The bigger tires and lugs generate more heat than a regular street tire so air pressure is more important to keep an eye on. Other than that it towed fine although its not quite as tall as your old truck.

I got an 01 Excursion on 8" lift and 37's. Its got the 7.3 though but I pull a heavy trailer with my full width XJ on it all the time. Normally get 14 mpg towing and 17 without a trailer

So first you lifted the hell out of the truck, and the trailer has surge brakes? I'm gonna vote as bad idea.
