Towing with a Van....

my father has had his past 2 vans done by quigley. the e350 did well until about 80k (got it brand new) and then ford couldnt keep up on their end with warranty and all. hence the 07 chevy he just got done. not as much of a suspension lift but it holds it own. ive towed with both vans and they do fine. i towed about 6000 behind the chevy and it impressed the crap outta me. its not diesel but held its own

The chevy is most likely the 6.0 gasser? I have one in my truck. It is a potent motor but is very thirsty, especially running 4:10's.,

Quiglys are sick.I saw will build a 7.3 4x4 ambulance van.......

at my old job i used to pull a 18" trailer with a 7.3 excursion with a leveling kit and the biggest BFG AT'sthat would fit, bbrush guard, and roof rack.... it was a 5 ton equiptment trailer loaded down with a 12k lb load and at 60 MPH i got 15 MPG.... it got to speed great, it stopped great, and it was extremely stable.... no trailer, 70 mph on the hwy, 21mpg.
if i was in your shoes that's exactly what i'd be looking for to replace my van.

quiggly vans are the shit though, no doubt if you wanted a van they are the folks to get it through...

i saw this one around town the day before yesterday.... looked PERFECT in every way

When I was in the U.K. this summer, I noticed they have very few pickup trucks, and use vans for everything - towing, hauling, etc.
The Royal Auto Club uses them as a combo of wrecker truck and a rolling repair shop.
What do these English cats use for a setup that's so popular?

hate to resurrect old thread...

I found me a van thanks for olejunky on this board going with me to look at it and pick it up. Needed quite a bit of maintenance on it to get it going but after replacing everything replaceable on the frontend and new shocks and changing all the fluids im ready to go. Installed brake controller and hitch and going to windrock this weekend towing with my Diesel!

nice find, cargo, high top while my van isnt a diesel i 1000% happy with it, it tows my junk just fine and mpg isn't bad. AND like you will see, camping is much simpler...

post some more pics when you start doing the inside.. Be nice to see how others are doing theirs... I find the RV.net site is 'ok' for some stuff, but they don't understand what I call 'parking lot' camping...
