Next weekend I'm replacing the clutch in a '93 Toy truck.
Probably getting one of the Marlin heavy duty 1200 lb clutches (unless there is a better suggestion).
I have no idea what shape the flywheel is in, I know its customary to have it resurfaced as long as its out... however since I'm shooting to do the job over a long holiday weekend I figure I may just get a new one to have on hand.

Are the aftermarket flywheels pretty much all the same? Whats the difference between a $50 one and say Marlin's at 2x the cost?

... and any tips in prepping for the job are appreciated...

FYI guy at Marlin says the flywheel they sell is identical to stock. Nothing special, except that if desired you can get your own stepping. But otherwise it's stock.

Oh and they had none of the 86-92 (smaller flywheel) clutches in, and only 1 of the larger ones...which I got ;-). He said no telling how long until they are back in stock.

i ordered a ceramic 1200 a few weeks ago and was in great need of it and sure enough was on backorder.

FYI depending on which size you have, if for instance they are out of the smaller one you can always change to the bigger one if you just get the larger flywheel from somewhere to match. They consider it an "upgrade" anyway...

but yes he said they can't hardly keep them on hand
