Toyota 22R No spark from coil

This is my friends 1988 2wd toyota pickup with a carbed 22R.

Driving home the truck just died. After sitting a while started back up and ran fine. Now it won't spark at all (either plugs or directly from the high tension wire to a ground).

We replaced the coil with new one and still no spark. Primary and secondary coil resistance is within spec.

I am suspecting the ignitor, but these things are like 300.00!!!

Anything else to test?

Anyone have an igniter to try?

search PBB, there is a cheap fix using a GM ignition module inplace of the Toy igniter

I actually found that after I posted this last night. It seems like a nice cheap fix.

I figure I can try it with a GM module to see if that is the problem before I fab a heat sink etc.

PM Cerry on this board, he's got a bunch of them I think. Not postitve on price but I paid him $50 for mine when it died.
