hey guys im having a real hard time finding information on the gearing in my runner. brace yourself because your going to tell me to put a bullet in this thing before i spend more money on it. It is a 1988 3.0 automatic, with a tranny / transfer case combination unit. So far the only thing i have found out is that they were only made for two years or so. 88 and 89. Ill assume its chain driven, but other than that i dont have anything for info on this thing, as far as gears go or anything. Thanks.

I'm not sure where you're looking... but there's a ton of info out there on the old Yota trucks/runners.
This guys has a bunch of good info
http://www.4crawler.com/
then of ocurse 4x4wire tech
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota-tech/

what is it you'd liek to know?

Oh and yes it's chain driven, teh t-case and tranny are an integral unit, most likely an A340h.
Gears likely 4.10, unlessi tcame factory w/ 31s, then prob 4.88.But you can tell by the VIN code, or 4Crawler's site has info on counting the revolutions w/ it jacked up to tell for sure.

auto should be a 430? gear

You should be able to tell the gear ratio by the data plate on the firewall. I cant' remember where, but there is a website that will decode it for you.

thanks. i know it has 4.10 gears in the diffs. its rare for the 3.0 auto but they are according to the plate on the firewall. i was only curious is the tcase gearing was anything special. all in all this big hunk of junk will be gone by next year and replaced with a manual so i can double the cases.
