The 3" cone won't just bole in place of the stock air box, the inlet is 2.5" or something like that. You need an adapter plate.
But if you get an AFM off an old Supra (82?), it has a 3" inlet ANd the flap is teh same size, so if you use a wider pipe to your intake you can expand your total inflow.

When I did the battery/AFm flip, I ran an 8-conductor wire back along thefirewall. Used some crimp-on connectors on both ends, so it could be connected/disconnected w/o any soldering or more cutting.

I made my adapter plate out of some old drive shaft tubing and some 1/8" plate. Then just cut and splice the wires. Oh, and the junk yard was handy for all my pluming, hehe.

thanks allready made my adaptor for filter with bud's help really wondering on if to cut wires and move ratlab & fran help me out thanks ps when going to mtn city:bounce2:

Don't use a AFM from a supra. The spring is stiffer and it will throw off your air/fuel. I went through different springs and AFMs for weeks when I turboed my 22re. If the engine has stock internals keep the stock AFM.

Well if you plan to move it, you will have to cut the wires. There's no way around that, they aren't nearly long enough.
the question is if you feel balsy and confident enough in the connections you will make yourself.

yes pick up 8ft stinger speed wire going to sotter them today with heat shrink thanks for info guy's.
