Just drug a 1980 Toyota shortbox 4x4 home. The 20r is long gone and replaced by a 22r. The guy was trying to get the carb figured out and basically gutted all the emissions and plugged the ports. I’m leaning towards a 32/36 Weber. I have read they need a fuel pressure regulator to keep it around 3 psi? Am I on the right track with the Weber. What have you run, what works? I’m looking for simple and getting rid of the emissions and vacuum maze (all fuct up as it is) sounds good to me. Yes I know propane is an option but it isn’t legal here in La. cause they can’t tax it.

Webber is a great option but im pretty sure propane is 50 state legal now you just have to have the right tank but for on road use a webber is great

Isn't legal as in for highway use? don't they make dual fuel setups for 22r? Like forklifts run? Just a thought I seen a fella on here in mtn city with 89 yota truggy and had dual fuel but said he ran pane most the time and could change to fuel in cab!!? I know nothing about 22r just throwing that out there!! His 22r was high mileage also but running pane he said his oil looks new on every oil change!

I did not know that!!

Its not very hard to plug all the vac ports on the factory carb and they work much better offroad than a weber. I can get a picture of how i did my old one and it would run on its nose, tail, sides and upside down for quite a while

Ill have it for you tommorow ive been doing christmas with family and havent made a trip to the shop

Well geeesh whoda thunk it??!! Lol take your time cause I’m far from getting to the carb. I still have to do a full gasket set, oil and water pump and a timing set lol. I did buy the full block off plate kit from LC so have to do that too. Gonna make a simple heater hose set up off the water pump outlet and the lower rad hose “T” but doing away with all the other ports/egr setup.

So before the intake goes back on I have the head at the shop getting checked out and should be going back together this weekend. I’m looking to possibly add a little bumpier bump stick. Nothing wild as it’s a stock displacement motor with “stock” carb that’s stripped down (thanks @toyota1 ). It has a long tube header. So nothing special but while I’ve got it tore apart was thinking of adding a small cam. What’s the word on who for what cam?
