Everyone knows how the National Audubon Society supports limiting OHV use. Look at the situation on NC's Outer Banks, so before you you buy that new Tundra think about what they are doing with the profit from your sale.

Toyota donates $20M to Audubon
Associated Press

DETROIT -- Toyota Motor Corp. is giving the National Audubon Society $20 million for conservation projects and training of environmental leaders.

The Audubon Society said today the grant is the largest in its 103-year history. The grant will fund the TogetherGreen program for five years.

Toyota says it also will encourage its 36,000 U.S. employees to volunteer for the Audubon Society.

The donation could help Toyota burnish its green credentials after facing criticism last fall from the Natural Resources Defense Council and other environmental groups. They were angry Toyota didn't support a measure to increase U.S. fuel economy standards to 35 miles per gallon by 2020.

The New York-based Audubon Society was not one of the groups criticizing Toyota.

I am a Ford guy but I have always respected Toyota quality. I have owned two Toyotas. I had planned to build another trail truck (sold my Samurai) which was going to be a Toyota. That won't happen now and I will never buy or respect Toyota again

Pass this on to your friends.

first of all your link didnt work for me....

so let me get this straight....you wont ever own or buy another toyota because they have donated $20 mil to help make the world a better place. they donated money to a society that is into birds and preserving there habitats. whats wrong with that?

I read that he refuses to support a company that (indirectly) funds organizations whose prime directive is closing OHV access to public lands through hidden agendas.

Maybe you forgot about TU's recent "conservation" efforts that "temporarily" closed several Tellico trails? Or the URE trail closures mandated by "endangered species" acts? Or any of the trails out west closed in the name of "conservation"?

Please recall your response when there's no where left to wheel legally because the bark eaters have succeeded in getting ALL OHV areas closed.

At that point, you might still be able to wash the bird :poop: off your truck... unless THAT "endangers" some tweety species that happens to have roosted in your backyard.

The Audubon Society is trying to close access to the OBX for vehicles.

i guess i am not as well versed in who is trying to close down what but from the above post that he originally made there wasnt any facts to say that toyota is trying to directly donate money to help close OHV trails. from what it sounded like it seems toyota is trying to cover there ass and look eco friendly because they didnt buy into the 2020 goal of having better fuel efficiency.

I don't really understand this logic.
Were you going to build your trail truck with a new Toyota truck from the dealer?
How in the world does buying or not buying a 20 year old truck from the 5th owner have any effect on the company that made it back then?
It might work for not buying a new vehicle, but not older/used ones.

I was thinking the same thing, but Maybe he doesn't want to show ANY SUPPORT for Toyota now.

Meh, Toyota sells their good trucks overseas anyhow. They've not cared about off-roading for decades.
