so here is the deal i am gettimg ready to regear my 1992 toyota pickup with the stock 22re and stock 4.10s. My wife ask why ? Before i get halph way done explaining its a lack of power she says if its a power issue why not just swap the engin out. So i started talking about a4.3 or finding a old diesel, but the she said why not use the enginout of a totaled 2005 scion tc in the back yard i bought abot a 1.5 years ago for spare part for my tc i used to have. it sounds great in theroy considering its a 2.4 that makes 161hp stock thas 60 more than my stock 22re and when i had mine dynoed before i sold it with the port and polish, headers ,intake, cat back exhaust and a agressive tune i dynoed over 205hp, so in short has this ben done before anybody heard of this if so is ther any chance my stock running gear will bolt up scense there bouth 2.4Ls. and am i in the rite thinking that a extra 60 to 100hp and 40 to 80 ft torque be enough with stock 4.10s im plannen to keep my 33s for now but after christmas i plan on going to atleast 35s

If the Scion motor makes those power numbers at some what high rpm's, then you may still feel the need to regear after the motor swap. I'm thinking the 4.3 would probably pull the truck along very nicely with 4.10 gears on 33's or 35's.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

x2 on the 4.3-it makes more torque at 2000 rpms than the scion motor makes at 4000, horsepower is wonderful- but torque is where it's at in a 4wd.

for what little it matters just pulled the dyno chart from KandN cant find mine. but the torque lookes like 140ft lbs at 1500rpm and the hp is 120hp at 2500rmp and thats just with the cold air no other mod .Is that any saving grace cause i still have most of the preformance upgrades .I couldint let them go for what i sold the car for

k just pulled 4.3dyno chartthats about what i expected but i still wounder a 13 year newer 2.4L Will bolt bolt to my running gear.i know im looking at plenty of fab with the header and mounts but it would be nice to skip the other mounts

just looked up the specs on a 2az-fe 2.4; as of now toyota has never made a rear wheel drive transmission to bolt to this family of motors. there may or may not be an adapter plate to bolt your trans to this motor.
