I just finished a knuckle rebuild and new steering studs, I have a lockrite in the front of my 84 pick up, and with the hubs locked I knew the steerinf would be non existent. I had forgot to umlock the hubs and the locker actuated coming outta the drive way, so I unlocked them, and still the front shaft was spinning, and the locker was still ocked. Then i pulled the front front drive shaft. Now it appears to me that the hubs are stuck in the locked postionm even though they turn to lock or free. Any ideas? what could cause this?

spring has popped out of the gear that engages the hub. it connects the knob on the outside to the lock-in gear on the inside. can be a beeaatch to put back in but with a little patience, small flat screwdriver, and mabe a pick it can be done. had my 84 and 2 sammys do the same thing. if youre lucky it might just be the darn thing is just stuck or wedged in the locked position.

rotate the dials to unlock and grab the driveshaft. Sometimes all it needs is a little wiggle and the hub gears will disengage.
