My 2009 2.7 Venza needs a TSB performed in which the VVT actuator/cam gear is replaced. Can anyone recommend a local type shop or individual within driving distance of Surry Co? I would prefer someone who knows imports.

A Toyota dealership won't charge anymore than any other shop. I've priced different stuff before, usually the dealership is the same or sometimes cheaper.
Must depend greatly on the dealer in question.
Rock Hill wanted $1100 to do a water pump and idler pulley on a 5.7.
Local Toyota specialty shop did it with Toyota parts for $475

@ponykilr I know a good shop but I’m a long way from ya.

@Blkvoodoo you know any Yoda shops your way?

I’m so far out of the game on Who does what, I barely work on my own junk anymore.
I will say, I have 2010 Venza with 3.5l and it had issues with exhaust cam actuator solenoid sticking, I changed the oil a few time and used 5w30 vs 5w20 and haven’t had an issue since. I have the solenoid because I was getting ready to replace and got sidetracked, I haven’t seen the code in over a year. Might try that.
Look up The Car Care Nut on YT, he is an independent Toyota certified tech in Chicago, he may have a video about the phaser and remedy.

From what I read, the VVT loses oil when sitting due to poor seal design. This is what causes the rattle when starting cold. The only fix is T-SB-0041-13.

I plan to keep the car. Its roomy, gets 30mpg on the hwy, is AWD and looks fantastic (PO took very good care of it).

I like ours, it’s is roomy (bloated Camry) the V6 really kicks it but best I’ve been able to get is 23mpg also AWD. 190k and runs and drives well. I don’t like the 20” wheels though.

If you havent had it repaired yet, i would call Miller Road Garage. Brad Golding. 336-755-3454
