Is there anyone around the lenoir, Boone or Hickory area who's good with 22R's. Ill be installing a Weber carb next month and might need a hand with it.. Thanks
My only concern with propane is that my truck will be getting a lot of street use also and I'm not sure how readily available propane is..but the propane kit would make life easier..
If you do go with the Weber, it's pretty strait forward. Just follow the instructions in the box for mounting. You'll need to buy a package of vacuum plugs. (I vote vote for the colored ones as the black rubber ones dry rot and crack and leak.) I also had to come up with some custom hose for the pcv valve and breather. The only vacuum lines I hooked back up were for the vacuum advance on the distributor. Manifold vacuum to the rear bladder and ported (off idle) to the front one. (closest to the radiator). I also did away with the egr valve and used the port for that for the pcv valve. (I went to a header with no egr provision and the valve broke when I tried to remove it AND the port in the intake and valve were both plugged solid with carbon so it wasn't really doing anything anyway.) I had to use a little die grinder to get the carbon build up out of the intake so I could hook up the pcv valve.
1st pic is the breather, 2nd is the pcv valve going to the egr port, 3rd is the vacuum lines. the tee goes to the carbon canister and the vacuum advance. You will probably have to play with the throttle a bit to get it right, I had to add a spacer and do a few adjustments to get it to idle at idle speed instead of 1500 rpm.
And after looking, I would just run the carbon canister to the vacuum port right next to the one it's on currently so you won't need a tee fitting. The white cap in the 3rd pic was a rubber one that in less than a year dry rotted so bad the top fell off while driving leaving a huge vacuum leak. The engine wouldn't even idle.
