Vehicle is a 1995 Toyota pickup, 3.0V6. auto

What happenend; Key stuck in the ignition in acc. postion.

Truck hadn't been started in 2 weeks, battery was dead, charged it and started fine. Went to shut it off, engine goes off, key stayed in.

After a few minutes of contemplating, I took off the plastic covers and unplugged the harness to the igniton switch. Key came out. Plugged back in, started it, went to take key out still stuck. Then repeated and got it out again. Heard a clicking inside the switch, like a solenoid sound. So the only way the key is coming out is by dissconnecting the ignition switch.

So anyone ever had this problem? Have a solution?

...........another question......
Are these 3.0 V6 worth keeping, rebuilding or should I consider another motor? Reason asking I've heard these have head gaskets, leaking issues.....

Check your shifter. Sounds like it still thinks it's in gear. Or P/N switch crapping out.

As for the 3.0 thing, They did have head gasket issues, but were most likely replaced under the recall. How many miles are on this one?

It has 205,000. A previous owner did replace the top end gaskets and I believe the head gaskets were replaced. I know the timing chain was replaced.
Two other problems it has is a oil leak from an unknown source and a mysterious water leak. Which I think the coolent is being sucked into the cylinder. But theres really no proof of that. But I fill it up and it goes down.
