Toyota SAS driveshaft issues

I have a 1995 Toyota Pickup with a 1 ton swap Suspension wise is 5" TG springs with 2" extra clearance hanger up front. Oliver's built me a custom shaft using single joints on both ends with 1310 Superflex ujoints on both ends. Finally got around to matching the gear ratio in my axles today and upon engaging my 4x4 I have noticed a major issue and would like some knowledgeable input from all you guys. Well, with the hubs UNLOCKED and the transfer case engaged in 4H there is a slight vibration but it's manageable up to 40mph or so, however when I LOCK the hubs AND the transfer case the vibration is horrible from the start as well as a clanking noise when I let off the gas and then again when I get back on it! I'm not sure if it's coming from the driveshaft(specifically the offset ujoints)or if it's from improper installation of gears, transfer case, ears of the yoke hitting the tubing, etc. Any input would be great, more than likely the only solution I see is dual cases.

Do you have a visor???

..........sell your truck and get a more streetable 4x4 if you want to dd it, that one will never be street friendly in it's current configuration.

Hahahaha....good luck beating that horse. I told him probably 20 times to get a beater rig to drive around.

But on a real note my 250 vibrates at 25 mph in 4x4, only time I've done that was when it snowed. They aren't ment to be drove around town in 4x4 if you want that then get a all wheel drive.

Your drive shaft angle is still probably really ateep and you need a carden joint

You have Tom Woods off set joints on both sides of that shaft, what else needs to be said?

His angles are to steep even for a Toyota CV joint.

When we built this shaft, you were told this was an extreme circumstance due to the angles it running and that it shouldn't be used except in an emergency.

I always get a chuckle out of the "why do I have problems" threads that turn into "we already told you that you would have problems" threads. It's too bad he's having problems, but come on man...

This is kind of like reading the thousands of Amazon reviews where someone buys a product, uses it the wrong way or for the wrong application, and then complains about how it doesn't work properly.
So many awesome things like "I got this shovel to use as a spatula, and it's the worst spatula evar! I have 13 non-stick pans and it scratched all of them! I can't even cook a decent egg with this shovel!"...

I too have Tom Woods offset joints on my front shaft due to the amount of droop my truck is set up for. You will have vibes with them at any time that front drive shaft is turning at much speed whatsoever. Mine comes in above 15 MPH.

From Tom Wood's website:

We have never made any secret of the fact that this joint does cause some vibration problems. (In fact we will not even sell it unless the customer is aware of its limitations). This is due to the introduction of the 3rd plane of operation, which will cause the drive shaft to run eccentric. The amount of eccentricity is a function of how steep the drive shaft runs to begin with.

Sooooo......move the problem from the front to the back!.. you do need 4wd on the street because the curbs and speed bumps in the mall are much bigger these days!!:flipoff2:
