looking to do the sas on my 88 toyota pickup this winter, i am wanting to do the ruf and 63's in the back. has anyone seen a sas kit that does not have the lift springs? or is it better to run the springs in the kit over the ruf and 63s? i plan on running 34 or 35s and gearing it to 5.29. the reason for doing the kit is to keep it simple and do it on the weekend. should i do 2wd 63's or4x4 63's? thanks in advance for the help

I used an All-Pro front hanger for my 88 Toyota. You can buy the pieces individually or in kit form.

I also used 2wd Chevy springs and took out the overload spring.

yea you can buy the parts seperatley on trail-gear, skymanufacturing, marlin etc. i was considering doin RUF and 63s or f150s on my yota when i sas to keep the cost down. but im gonna go ahead and get the 3in TG kit. i figured if im gonna do it, i might as well spend the extra cash and buy new springs

2wd are 3 leafs and a overload. 4wd are 4 leafs and a overload. the 2wd are a little softer but you could take leafs out of the 4wd to get your desired ride and suspension travel.
If you buy the pieces indivdually you can save some money but it is a lot of parts collecting. i have done it that way honestly on my new truck i will probably just use the kit its a lot less leg work to find the parts. but you can junk yard or use oem parts from other vehicles for a lot of it.

yea i would use the 2wd leaves. it would probably match the RUFs better, but like Porterka said, you could always pull leaves from the chebby pack, or add leaves to your RUF. have you ever heard of the toyota bible on Pirate? if not go check it out. it has a list of what year chevys to use and which pack gives x amount of lift

yeah i watched the toyota bible evolve when i lived on the west coast and it is full of just about anything you would want to know unless its a really odd ball question.

which is better the 63 and ruf or the springs in the kit? how big of spring do i need to run a 35?

trim your truck to fit the tires. a 3" kit will be WELL over 3"s of lift.. I bought TGs 5" sas kit and ended up near 10"s total. even w/ leafs removed its still tall for 35s

you could easily fit 35s with 3in springs. im still IFS, but i clear 35 12.50s with 1.5in bjspacers, 2in AAL, and a 2in BL. i only rub on the pitman/idler arm because i need wheel swith less BSing

I have ran my trail gear springs for about 3 years now and they are still awesome(even after running no bump stops)!Alot of ppl on pirate talk trash about trail gear but I have ALOT of parts from them on my truck and have nothin to complain about plus ther cheaper.I collected all the parts I needed in one deployment out here last year in about 5 moths just buy piece at a time unless your in a hurry.

Having said that though I think I might try All pro springs next I hear nothing but great things!

so will 3" springs be enough for 35's? and is there $300.00 in trail gear and all pro?

Here is a customer rig I did. It's the full Trail Gear front and rear kits. 4" and 35's no trimming in the rear front is trimmed. I think it's too tall. Def do the 3".

When doing the RUF pack i have read that people are using 6 leaf packs. can the 2 wheel drive toyota leafs be used in the pack? What configurations have been found best for 35's?
